Concept
TangoTerras aan 't IJ is an initiative of Wouter & Jan Dirk, which started out with the famous salons in the hall of Muziekgebouw aan het IJ. The organisers wanted to offer Amsterdam a classic milonga in the hart of the city, at a toplocation with a spectacular view at the setting sun from the dancefloor. These salons unfortunately had to stop, and now TangoTerras is active with salons and a TangoMarathon in the summer in the Lloyd Hotel.
Style of music:
The organisers have chosen for a traditional approach, with music of the great Argentine Orquesta Típica from the Epoca de Oro: 1935-1955. The dj's play in tandas with cortinas and are well known for their danceable style, with a pleasant mix of rythmic en lyric tunes. Main dj's are Christos and Jan Dirk.
